Dear RVA Public Schools, where does our tax money go?
Updated: Nov 5, 2019
This is a story of unacceptable use of Tax Payer funds and Public Schools Appropriations committee. While 13,000 new solar panels sound technological and modern, Richmond Public schools are failing the community of teachers, students and working families. Currently I reside beside Fox Elementary, the most luxurious of all Richmond City public schools. I came across both 2019 stories and you can read for yourself the shame our City Counsel should wear. With a 11.3% meal tax, where does our tax money go? Every single public school has Mechanical, HVAC, Rodent Invested, Lead Paint, Asbestos and ADA failed compliance. City of Richmond Transportation Department, typically non-related news, has spent 65 Millions dollars on a bus system that was already in place and 75 Million Dollars on the Capital Bike Trail. We could have a Gondola from 25th Street to Interstate 64 for the cheap price of 65M but our public schools and our community children should come first.
The Economic Development of Richmond has long been corrupt, void of any positive stride in our school systems since I can remember. We need to demand action from those getting salary paychecks from our community. As a matter of public record we need to review in detail the budget report for 2019 and 2020. http://www.richmondgov.com/Budget/reports.aspx
"For the 2019-20 school year, there are 65 top private schools in Richmond, Virginia, serving 9,108 students. The average private school tuition is $11,960 for elementary schools and $17,216 for high schools..." https://www.privateschoolreview.com/virginia/richmond
